Rebecca Adler began her visual education as a little girl, watching the silver screen starlets of black and white movies, and looking through old photographs of her family's journey from Europe to South America to Kansas. Rebecca realized that the family photographs had a lot in common with the Hollywood films: both of them told a story with a sequence of striking images. In her work as a portraitist and documentary photographer, she always is looking for a combination of beauty and authenticity.
As a young adult Rebecca traveled to Florence, Italy to study painting and experiment with photography. Inspired, she left Italy to begin an intense education in photography, first at the Brooks Institute of Photography and then at the Art Center College of Design, from which she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
With a painterly eye and finely calibrated technical skill, Rebecca strives to capture those in-between moments that so often are the most memorable and evocative. Clients have commented that ‘Rebecca has that Garry Winogrand ability to disarm her subjects so the viewer can see their vulnerability and beauty in her pictures.’
Rebecca specializes in travel journalism, editorial portraiture and commercial fashion photography. She resides in Nashville, TN, with her dog, Stella.
